Official Rules for all Sweepstakes and Contests

THESE ARE GENERIC RULES FOR ALL SWEEPSTAKES AND CONTESTS SPONSORED BY WRAL-FM. SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR SPECIFIC RULES PERTAINING TO SPECIFIC SWEEPSTAKES AND CONTESTS. TO THE EXTENT THERE IS A CONFLICT BETWEEN THESE GENERIC RULES AND THE SPECIFIC RULES FOR A PARTICULAR CONTEST OR SWEEPSTAKES, WHETHER POSTED ONLINE OR MENTIONED ON-AIR, THE SPECIFIC RULES WILL APPLY. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL REGULATIONS APPLY.

HOW TO ENTER. For instructions on how to enter, follow either (a) the sweepstakes or contest rules on wralfm.com/contest,  (b) the rules detailed below, (c) the rules mentioned on Meta, or (d) the directions mentioned on-air. Entries submitted may not be acknowledged or returned. Use of any device or method to automate entry is prohibited. Incorrect, illegible, corrupt, and incomplete entries are void. Proof of entry submission will not be deemed proof of receipt.

SPONSOR. The sponsor of a contest or sweepstakes is WRAL FM, Inc., d/b/a MIX 101.5, and Capitol Broadcasting Company (“Sponsor”).

ELIGIBILITY. Contests and sweepstakes are open only to permanent U.S. residents 18 years of age as of the start of the contest or sweepstakes, and who reside in the MIX 101.5 total service area (TSA), as defined by Nielsen Audio. Employees of Sponsor and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees, advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) are not eligible. Unless otherwise stated in the specific rules for a contest or sweepstakes, entrants (a) are eligible to win a prize only once within a thirty-day period, and (b) may not enter a contest or sweepstakes more than once. By submitting an entry to a contest or sweepstakes, the entrant acknowledges and agrees (a) to all of these Official Rules, and (b) to be bound by all decisions of Sponsor, whose decisions are binding and final.

PRIZE(S) AND ODDS. The method of choosing a winner(s), prize description, prize ARV, and odds of winning are outlined in either (a) the specific sweepstakes or contest rules on wralfm.com/contest (b) the rules detailed below, (c) the rules mentioned on Meta, or (d) as mentioned on-air. The winner(s) will be notified by phone, email, or the social media account provided at entry and instructed how to claim and obtain the prize. Prize is non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize becomes unavailable for any reason. Winner is responsible for all taxes and fees associated with the receipt and/or use of the prize. Winner must sign and return to Sponsor an affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release, as well as IRS form W-9: Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification for any prize over $600.00 in total value. If any prize notification is undeliverable, or in the event of non-compliance with any of these requirements, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner may be selected from the remaining eligible entries. All unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after thirty (30) days. Any winner who forfeits a prize is not eligible to win another Sponsor contest or sweepstakes for thirty (30) days. Sponsor is not held responsible for replacing any prizes lost in the mail. If winner cannot find electronically transferred tickets in their email, they must contact us at bfletcher@999thefan.com within 24 hours of the event. If the event has passed, the sponsor is not responsible for replacing the prize. 

RELEASE. By entering a contest or sweepstakes, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor, its prize suppliers, affiliates, subsidiaries, and each of such company’s officers, directors, employees, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from and against any claim or cause of action, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, damage to or loss of property, arising out of participation in a contest or sweepstakes or receipt or use or misuse of any prize. By checking the relevant box or selection on the entry form, entrants agree that Sponsor may contact them via email with information, special content or features. An entrant may discontinue receiving such materials at any time by using the unsubscribe procedures contained in the email message.

PUBLICITY. Except where prohibited, participation in a contest or sweepstakes constitutes a winner’s consent to Sponsor’s and its agents’ use of any and all materials submitted with an entry, including winner’s name, likeness, photograph, voice, opinions and/or hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media, worldwide, without further payment or consideration.

GENERAL CONDITIONS. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify a contest or sweepstakes, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures, or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the contest or sweepstakes, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of a contest or sweepstakes or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or any other promotion or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Sponsor reserves the right to change the Official Rules at any time to ensure the fair administration of the contest or sweepstakes and compliance with applicable laws.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY. The Released Parties are not responsible for: (a) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by entrants, printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in a contest or sweepstakes; (b) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the entry process; (c) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of a contest or sweepstakes or the processing of entries; or (d) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in a contest or sweepstakes or receipt or use or misuse of any prize.

DISPUTES. Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with a contest or sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina or the appropriate North Carolina State Court located in Wake County, North Carolina; (b) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering a contest or sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant hereby waives all rights to claim indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages multiplied or otherwise increased. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant and Sponsor in connection with a contest or sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of North Carolina without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of North Carolina or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of North Carolina.

Official Rules 

OPEN TO PERMANENT U.S. RESIDENTS WHO ARE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL LAWS APPLY. 

HOW TO ENTER. Entries will be accepted at specified times around 8:00 AM ET, 11:00 AM ET, and 4:00 PM ET starting on Monday, January 6th, 2025, until the $12,000 jackpot runs out,  the end date will be no later than Friday, March 28th, 2025 (the “Promotion Period”). Throughout the Promotion Period, MIX 101.5 will announce to text the keyword “CASH” to (919) 860-1015 at approximately 8:00 AM ET, 11:00 AM ET, and 4:00 PM ET each weekday for a chance to text to enter that hour’s drawing (the “Hourly Drawings”).  All text entries with the correct keyword will be entered in that hour’s drawing, only one (1) entry is allowed per person per hour. Entries must be received within ten (10) minutes of the initial announcement of the keyword to be eligible for that hour’s drawing. After each keyword entry period, MIX 101.5 will randomly select an entrant to participate to guess the “Secret Celebrity”. Clues to who the “Secret Celebrity” is will be provided on air and on MIX 101.5’s stream (available via app, website or smart speaker) around 1:00 PM ET each weekday during the Promotion Period. Texts placed to a phone number other than (919) 860-1015 are not eligible to win.

ELIGIBILITY. The promotion is open only to permanent U.S. residents who are 18 years of age as of Monday, January 6th, 2025, and who reside in the WRAL-FM Total Service Area as defined by Nielsen Audio. Employees of Sponsor and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees, advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) are not eligible. Persons who have won a prize valued over $100 in any promotion sponsored by Sponsor in the last 30 days are ineligible to win this promotion. Only one (1) entry per person/household permitted per hour during the Promotion Period, if chosen to guess the Secret Celebrity, you only have one guess. By submitting an entry to this promotion, the entrant acknowledges and agrees (a) to all of these Official Rules, and (b) to be bound by all decisions of Sponsor, whose decisions are binding and final.  Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth in the Official Rules. 

PRIZE(S) AND ODDS. *The following was updated on 1/7/2025*  Sponsor is updating the sweepstakes to start with a $500 cash prize at 8:00 AM ET on Wednesday, January 7th, 2025. Total prize will grow by increments of $50 each time the “Secret Celebrity” is guessed incorrectly. Clues to who the “Secret Celebrity” is will be provided on air and on MIX 101.5’s stream (available via app, website or smart speaker) around 1:00 PM ET each weekday during the Promotion Period.  If the “Secret Celebrity” is guessed correctly, the prize will be reset to $500, and a new “Secret Celebrity” will be introduced through the Promotion Period, or earlier if $12,000 jackpot runs out.  Texts placed to a phone number other than (919) 860-1015 are not eligible to win.  The number of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period will determine the odds of winning. The prize will be issued via check and must be cashed within 180 days of winning. Sponsor will not reissue a check if lost, destroyed, or expired. HOW IT WORKS. *The following was updated on 1/7/2025*  Each winner of the Hourly Drawings will be randomly selected from all eligible entries received during the Promotion Period. Selection will take place no sooner than ten (10) minutes after the keyword has been announced to the public, but no later than twenty (20) minutes after. (For example: Wednesday, February 20th, 2024, keyword is given at 8:00 AM ET. The potential winner will be selected no sooner than 8:20 AM ET the same day, and no later than 8:25am and so forth for each of the designated Hourly Drawings.) The hourly winner will be notified by phone call to the number the text was received from and instructed regarding how to participate and potentially win the prize.  

-Each hourly winner will hear an audio clip of a pre-determined Secret Celebrity. The participant will then have one (1) chance to identify and name the Secret Celebrity to win the prize. If the participant guesses incorrectly, an additional $50 will be added to the prize for the next participant.

OPEN TO PERMANENT U.S. RESIDENTS WHO ARE FULL-TIME STUDENTS ENROLLED IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH TWELFTH (12^TH) GRADE IN NORTH CAROLINA (“Student”) FOR THE 2024-2025 CALENDAR SCHOOL YEAR. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICED BY LAW. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL REGULATIONS APPLY.

HOW TO ENTER. You may nominate a student, or yourself if you are a student, by completing the online entry form located at between 12:01 AM ET Monday, January 6th, 2025, and 11:59 PM ET on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 (the “Promotion Period”). Only one (1) entry may be made during the Promotion Period, any additional entries received from the same person or email address will void all such additional entries. Entries that are (a) incomplete, or (b) generated by a script, macro or other automated means will not be eligible.

The promotion is open only to permanent, U.S. residents who are full-time students enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth (12^th) grade for the 2024-2025 calendar school year in North Carolina. Nominated entrants must reside in the WRAL-FM total service area (TSA), as defined by Nielsen Audio. Employees of Sponsor and its respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees, advertising and promotion agencies and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) are not eligible. Persons who have won a prize valued over one-dollar ($1) in any promotion sponsored by Sponsor in the last thirty (30) days are ineligible to win this promotion.  By submitting an entry to this promotion, the entrant acknowledges and agrees (a) to all of these Official Rules, and (b) to be bound by all decisions of Sponsor, whose decisions are binding and final.  Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth in the Official Rules.

PRIZE(S) AND ODDS. One (1) entrant will be chosen at random, weekly on Monday beginning Monday, January 13, 2025, through March 27, 2025. Winner will be invited to our MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM studio located at 3100 Highwoods Blvd. Suite 140, Raleigh, NC 27604 to guest co-host on that following Thursday evening from 7:00 PM ET to 8:00 PM ET with on air personality Doug Miller. Winner will also receive an official DJU certificate. Winner is required to bring one (1) legal guardian with them. If winner cannot make it the Thursday following the drawing, the prize will be forfeited, and another winner selected. Prize cannot be exchanged for cash value. Prize is non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. The number of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period will determine the odds of winning the prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason. 

PRIZE REDEMPTION AND RELEASE.  The winner will be notified by email or telephone using the contact information provided on the entry form and will be instructed when to arrive at the MIX-101.5 WRAL-FM studios that following Thursday.  Winner(s) is responsible for all taxes and fees associated with the receipt and/or use of the prize. Winner, or guardian, will be required to sign and return to WRAL-FM an affidavit of eligibility and liability and publicity release before entering the MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM studio. If any prize notification is undeliverable, or in the event of non-compliance with any of these requirements, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternate winner will be selected at random from the remaining eligible entries. No substitution of prizes or transfer of prizes to a third party is permitted. Throughout the Promotion Period, MIX 101.5 will announce texting the hourly keyword to (919) 860-1015 at approximately 11:00 AM ET and 4:00 PM ET each weekday throughout the promotion period. All text entries with the correct keyword will be entered in that day’s drawing, only one (1) entry is allowed per hour. Entries must be received within ten minutes of the initial announcement of the keyword to be eligible for that hour’s drawing. PRIZE(S) AND ODDS.  One text entry will be selected at approximately 11:05 AM ET, then around 4:05 PM ET each weekday during the promotion period to win $100 in cash and a $100 Anfesa’s Jewelers gift card ($200 ARV). Cash prize will be issued via check and must be cashed within 180 days of winning. Sponsor will not reissue a check if lost, destroyed, or expired. Prize is non-transferable and no substitution will be made except as provided herein at the Sponsor’s sole discretion.  The number of eligible entries received during the Promotion Period will determine the odds of winning. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value if the designated prize should become unavailable for any reason.
